Description: Coming Soon
Description: This course provides an overview of research designs and methodologies in education, counselling, and the social sciences. Students will be introduced to strategies and processes for designing a research proposal or project using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods designs through an applied framework. Through this course, students will explore the philosophical assumptions for all three approaches, identify strategies for reviewing the literature, analyze and evaluate the use of theory and conceptual frameworks across disparate research approaches, and reflect on the importance of writing and ethics in scholarly inquiry. This course will place particular emphasis on mixed methodologies.
Description: This intensive course delves into the intricate domains of media, technology, and design education, offering a comprehensive review of seminal and contemporary research in these interdisciplinary realms. Participants will critically analyze the pervasive influence of media and technology on societal, educational, and cultural frameworks in the context of the postdigital age. Additionally, the course examines the tangible applications of technology in sectors like engineering juxtaposed against the theoretical foundations that propel innovative design solutions. This immersive exploration will equip students to understand and navigate the intricate intersections and broader implications of media, technology, and design in the evolving landscape of global education.
Description: Social media and the Internet are not neutral. Proponents of social media exude its advantages through the democratization of knowledge. Others argue that social media is irreparably tearing the fabric of society apart. This course will explore arguments around social media and survey its impacts on education, psychology, society and culture. Students will be asked to evaluate disparate themes related to social media through a critical examination of the research literature.
